The unique and compelling experimental violin works of Troy Schafer combine the primordial, the spiritual and the unexpected, to form challenging, droning pieces of chamber music. His soundscape is obscure and solemn at the same time. „Supreme Happiness Forever“ links the poetic warmth of symphonic music and the decomposing approach of some radical modern classical music, merges the unsophisticatedness of traditional music with the experimental approach of avantgardism.
KVH008. Vortex Rikers – The Story So Far C44
The music of Vortex Rikers is the sound of nocturnal wandering in crowded urban areas, of post-crash ecstatic at dawn, of eschatological sci-fi dystopia. Shimmering electronics and hazy synths interweave with bleak melodies and tremulous drones to create expansively dark atmospherics. „The Story So Far…“ gives the connoisseur of dark ambient/electronica something more to savour and ponder than some loop and drag. 14 tracks make the hostile coldness of a post-industrial world audible—a world dominated by social distance, economic rationality and purely functional architecture.
KVH007. Blue Dressed Man – Sea Rejected C41
With „Sea Rejected“ the Luxemburgian soundscapist Blue Dressed Man presents his latest hazy, hypnagogic creations. Washed out synth waves, creeping drones and industrially seeming electronica are blanketed by diverse layers of hiss and crackles. BDM cruises through the same outer worldly spheres as Motion Sickness Of Time Travel, Vortex Rikers and Expo ‚70.
KVH006. ∆AIMON – Amen C27
Scratchy drones rub like icy fingers against synthetic beats and psychedelic loops, while the rhythm flirts eerily through the darkness, from which ghostly voices entice, call, complain—The confrontationally bleak aesthetics of ∆AIMON reveal the underbelly of modern music, the ugly side of Witch House.
KVH005. Magdalena Solis – Hesperia C43
The Belgian sound art ensemble Magdalena Solis is named after the high priestess of an obscure Mexican 1960s blood cult. Thus it is well unsurprising, that listening to its music feels like undergoing a blood transfusion. „Hesperia“ is an elaborate blend of menacing Miasmah-Dones, the Mideastern-Psych of the GRAILS, Spacerock a la White Hills and the trippy Krautrock of Abunai. It is a colorful and surreal sonic journey into the bizarre and unknown states of the human spirit.
